Squeeze Me by Carl Hiaasen

This is a crime genre novel that is also an entertaining satire of a Donald Trump type in the inexplicable role of president of the USA.
Carl Hiassen, born and raised in South Florida, sets the story in Palm Beach and fills it with ridiculously frivolous older-rich-women, Trump fans. They have named themselves in reference to the “pussy grab” line from tape that was released while he was running the first time.
There is also a mirror image of the Trump Palm Beach place, Mal y Loco, or whatever it is called in real life.

Rich in plot and events, the book is quite up to the minute on trends in the media. There is an LSD microdosing element to the story that goes to a surprising and comic dosing. You have to read it to find out who was dosed. (No, not HIM.)

Squeeze Me refers to pythons, invasive creatures not native to Florida. They are sold as pets and kept until unmanageably large which gets them dumped into the Everglades to thrive or die. In the story, some grow to 25 feet in length.

The cast of characters, along with the Trumpish cartoon, include, local cops, Secret Service agents (not above getting close to their work), a swamp hermit, and a freelance animal control woman, who is one of the main players in the dramcom.

I had a good time with this one.
